PGS-SHT-023: 7 Days Mountain Elgon: the Sasa Trail:
Day 1: Kampala to Budadiri
Pick you from Kampala in the morning to drive you to Mountain Elgon via Jinja and mbale to Budadiri, check in at Last Chance guest house for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Budadiri (1250m) to Sasa River Camp (2900m)
In the morning after a cup of coffee will start on hiking from will get the ranger from the Budadiri information centre to start on trek, upto Sasa River Camp dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Sasa River camp (2900m) to Mude Cave Camp (3500m)
Will trek from sasa river camp to mude cave camp passing Sasa Petro hut.
Day 4: Mude cave camp (3500m)
You will hike via the Jackson pool to the Jackson Summit (4165m) or may decide to hike to Wagagai Peak (4321m) Wagagai peak is the second highest peak next to after Rwenzori’s Margherita at (5,109m).
Day 5: Mude cave camp (3500m) to Sasa River Camp (2900)
You will descend from Mude to Sasa River camp seeing the sasa passing through the bamboo forests, dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Sasa River camp back to Budadiri (1250m)
Descend back to the starting point of the trek, check in at last Change guesthouse for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Budadiri back to Kampala.
After your early morning breakfast, will be driven from your hotel to Mbale and there continue to Jinja if time is available will visit the source of the Nile in Jinja where the waters of river Nile separates from those of Lake Victoria as it starts its three months journey to the Mediterranean sea. Continue driving back to Kampala. End of the safari.
